The MET, Metropolitan Opera House , New York, USA

Jordan Akustik received the commission to be acoustic consultant from the architect Wallace K. Harrison of Harrison & Abramovitz in 1961 shortly after the New York State Theatre commission was entered into.

Due to the high prestige this project held it was felt that also an American consultant should be part of the acoustic team, and as co-consultant Cyril M. Harris was chosen.

The acoustic result was an outstanding success when the Opera House openend in 1966. The reverberation Time recorded with an 80% capacity audience is around 1.75 sec. and the EDT virtually the same, which accounts for a high degree of the sucess in this the worlds largest auditoria entirely depending on natural roomacoustic conditions with a volume of 31.000 m3 seating 3800 persons.
